Viewing Yusif's Studio was Fascinating, Inspiring, Timeless (Interview and Podcast link at bottom of this post)
I don't know about you, but I know that art has not been my greatest achievement. In fact, stick figures are about as far as I have succeeded. So when I entered Yusif's studio I became very quiet inside - I was in the creative room where wonderful things come from the invisible world to my viewable one. The room was narrow and long, divided into the front room where the 'art' took shape, and the darkly lit back room filled with art books, sleeping couch, writing table, and a window that may not have been opened since or before the Soviet occupation of Azerbaijan. Dust, years of knurled oil tubes, half completed bronze and welding objects, pastel chalks, various frames lined in the corner according to the first in last out order of the universe, hanging lights, a work table with a red desk lamp that could have come from a Pixar studio, flooring that probably remembers the previous million steps, spiders that owned certain corners, and an awe of quietness - creativity has a certain presence!
